Resources

Wasteaware develops and shares practical knowledge products to strengthen integrated solid waste management (ISWM) worldwide. Our resources bring together publications and tools that are widely used by cities, development partners, and practitioners.

  • Publications: Research papers, city assessments, and strategy documents produced in partnership with organisations such as UNEP, WWF, the World Bank, and UN-Habitat.

  • Tools: A suite of decision-making and assessment tools, including our core ‘trilogy of tools’ including the Waste Wise Cities Tool (WaCT), Waste Flow Diagram (WFD) and Wasteaware Benchmark Indicators (WABI). Together, these tools enable evidence-based decision making and planning, impact measurement, and project conceptualisation.

  • 9 Development Bands: A framework developed by Wasteaware to benchmark the performance of municipal solid waste management systems. The bands help cities understand where they stand on the path from collection and disposal, to advanced, circular, and resource-efficient systems.

Our goal is to make these resources practical, accessible, and actionable, so that stakeholders at all levels — from city leaders to community enterprises — can design and implement effective and efficient solid waste management interventions.
